Vietnam officially named Socialist Republic of Vietnam (Cộng hòa xã hội chủ nghĩa Việt Nam) is the easternmost country on the Indochina Peninsula in Southeast Asia. With an estimated population of 95.5 million people in 2017, it is the world's 14th-most-populous country. The name of Vietnam means "South Viet", and was officially adopted in 1945 after we got the independence from France. Vietnam is bordered by China to the north, Laos to the northwest, Cambodia to the southwest, and the East Sea (Biển Đông) to the East. Hanoi has been officially the capital from 1975 while the largest and most vibrant city is Ho Chi Minh (formerly Sai Gon) located in southern of Vietnam. The most famous and attractive sightseeing is Halong bay a World Heritage site since 1994.
